Continuing Education Policy

NO SHOW FEE - BOARD POLICY

According to Board Policy, a fee of $25.00 will apply to anyone registered for an education seminar that does not show, unless the person forwards a physician’s statement, stating that they were unable to attend, due to illness. In this case, a credit can be given towards a future course.

CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSES

Until further noted, the Board of Directors has approved four (4) complimentary Continuing Education courses, for all BREB Members, annually. This will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors. Where members take advantage of these courses, staff will track the number of courses taken by each BREB Member.

GRACE PERIOD

Effective September 1, 2011 there will be NO Ten (10) Minute late Grace period for Continuing Education courses provided by BREB.

In order to obtain the CE Credits, the participant must be present for the full duration of the course – they must sign in and sign out or swipe in/swipe out as the case may be. The course registrations begin half an hour prior to the course start time. BREB highly recommends you plan to arrive a half hour early in order to allow for emergencies, bad traffic or losing your way. We provide refreshments to enjoy while you await the start of the class. It’s a great opportunity to network with your colleagues! Any participant arriving late for the course will NOT be issued CE credits and the complimentary course will remain used for BREB Members.

If a Member registers for a course and uses one of the complimentary courses but does not show up for the course, the Member will be charged the No Show fee as well as the complimentary course will remain used. Members must cancel according to the Education Cancellation Policy in order to have the complimentary course reversed.

If a Member registers for a course and uses one of the complimentary courses but is unable to attend the course and calls the Board office at least by 1:00 pm on the previous business day prior to the course date, the Member will NOT be charged the No Show fee, but the complimentary course will remain used. Members must cancel according to the Education Cancellation Policy in order to have the complimentary course reversed.

Where a person has paid for course & confirmed attendance and fails to show, there will be no reimbursement of funds, or the fee for the course will still be considered to be owed, (if invoiced), unless the person forwards a physician’s statement, stating that they were unable to attend, due to illness. In this case, a credit can be given towards a future course.

As per the OREA agreement with Instructors, any Instructor has permission to remove a registered Registrant from the class due to any type of disturbance.
